A teaser for a fictional HBO documentary about the year of 1904 with the title ‚1904 – The True Dreamland?‘
The Summer Olympics, the first motorised flight, the opening of the Paris metro line 01 and the discovery of the Rolls Royce. Sounds like the true dreamland, doesn‘t it? Don’t forget the workers‘ movements, the Russo-Japanese war and the genocide of the Herero and Nama. So, all aboard for Dreamland?
Process
This trailer was created in Blender with a camera flight through a scene combined of 2D images and 3D objects. The movie consists of two main parts; the beamer intro and the event scene. The events start off very cheerfully, but as they descend into the metro, the bright, friendly dreamworld suddenly turns into a a dark nightmare.

Special thanks to Isabella Fischer, musical student at the Folkwang University of Arts, for recording the intro to my trailer. Based on her recordings and ElevenLabs‘ AI, I was able to create a voice similar to the one in the original song „All Aboard For Dreamland“ by Byron G-Harlan. Without Isabella’s help I wouldn’t have been able to create the intro lyrics like this. Thank you so much!
Titles
I used the Bellerose font for the titles, which works well with the Dreamland theme and has similarities to fonts from the 1900s. The titles flicker slightly and have a light bloom to match the old beamer style of the intro.
